After having a rather uninspired day I sat down to indulge my NYLON magazine addiction. While flipping through the March issue, I stumbled upon fantastic jewelry pieces by LARUICCI. I went online to take a look and wound up adding a little sparkle to my day after all. Above are some of the favorite pieces I found. Surprisingly, the prices aren’t outrageously expensive (yay!).
If you’re into thrifty things for the home and are willing to dig for a find then The Loading Dock is your kind of place. The Loading Dock is a building materials reuse facility. It’s mission is to increase the supply and use of affordable building materials for housing and community improvement by redirecting landfill-bound, reusable materials into productive use. Sounds like a pretty good idea to me. I had fun exploring all the different sections: lumber, paint, tiles, and more. By the end, I had found an old door (see above) in which the panels had been replaced with mirrors. Once I clean it up and add a fresh coat of paint I think it will make a cool wall hanging! My tab: $12.
During thrift-ing adventures I often encounter garments with a lot of potential, but their buttons really hold them back. I’ve been collecting a few such pieces and finally got around to picking out some new buttons for a red and navy jacket. I believe it was intended to be a dress, but its not the 80s anymore so I repurposed it as a light jacket. It’s a pretty striking piece and I’m looking forward to meshing it with other ladylike pieces I own. Moral of the story: don’t be afraid to do button surgery. I guarantee you’ll have fun picking out the buttons and even more fun wearing your refreshed clothing!
I can’t help but feel happy every time I browse through MSGM‘s collections. I love everything about Massimo Giorgetti’s designs from the unexpected combination of prints to the cut of the structured, but girly dresses. I’m a super fan of the full black skirt directly above. With it’s high waist rise it is sure to make your legs incredible and the peek-a-boo white lining gives it an extra amount of excitement!
