It was a glorious weekend of warm weather! I enjoyed being lazy and running errands in worn-in, comfortable clothes. My favorite part of my outfit above are the shorts, because I transformed them from an awesome pair of acid wash, mom-butt jeans. My little DIY shorts project takes all of 5 minutes. Figure out the length of shorts you prefer and “snip, snip.” Wash them to get the fray along the bottom and if you want to soften them up, take some sandpaper to them.

My outfit: glasses, Ralph Lauren (new, and I’m crazy about them!); sweater, Express; t-shirt (technically, pajamas), Victoria’s Secret; shorts, DIY, shoes, Chinese Laundry; purse, vintage Coach.

So I’ve been a bad, bad blogger and done the worst thing possible….suddenly, taken an unannounced sabbatical. I apologize!  It’s okay. I’m back and I’ve got VERY exciting news. You are reading the first ever Throwback Thursday post!! Did your life just change? No, but here’s today’s vintage image. Ann Margret rocking out to some swinging 60′s music. There are 3 things I love about this photo:

1) her cropped pants- just bought a pair of similar styled pants (bright orange, of course) at J. CREW ,

2) her midriff- something I’d like to experiment with this summer (never thought, I’d say that…),

And

3) how much fun she looks to be having.

She’s the happiest woman I’ve ever seen with a double chin. Go Ann Margret.

I’ve had a thing for Cheap Monday denim for a while now. Their jeans are so comfortable that I can fall asleep in them and the fit is great for me. I’ve realized the fit is everything now after having ill fitted jeans previously. Best of all, as the name hints at, they’re cheap (less than $100 a pop). The only downfall is finding them in a store; your best bet is to do a Google search (not kidding). I have to have the striped pair in the picture… found them online for $65. I like it!

There’s nothing like a lazy Sunday brunch. My green blouse with lace trim is one of my treasured vintage finds. I find that the little details of clothes are what make them truly special! After a cloudy Monday, I am hoping for a sunny day tomorrow. Have a good week!

Get a retro look in 3 easy steps. Now, this hairstyle is definitely deflated but it’s more wearable for a night out. Follow the steps below.

1. Blow dry your hair upside down to get maximum volume.

2. Part your hair off to the side and comb hair so that it swoops across your forehead.

3. Take two bobby pins and secure swooping piece of hair behind your ear in an X formation.

Add winged eyeliner and ta da!

I’m excited to try out a fun, retro hairstyle tonight. I love the half-up beehive and the golden cat eyes above.  I’ll post my final look a little later tonight. Cheers to hairspray!

I am SO ready to jump into spring. It is 64 degrees outside right now. How crazy? To celebrate I had fun coming up with a perfect spring outfit inspired by these lovely vintage maidens. After having a rather uninspired day I sat down to indulge my NYLON magazine addiction. While flipping through the March issue, I stumbled upon fantastic jewelry pieces by LARUICCI. I went online to take a look and wound up adding a little sparkle to my day after all. Above are some of the favorite pieces I found. Surprisingly, the prices aren’t outrageously expensive (yay!).

If you’re into thrifty things for the home and are willing to dig for a find then The Loading Dock is your kind of place. The Loading Dock is a building materials reuse facility. It’s mission is to increase the supply and use of affordable building materials for housing and community improvement by redirecting landfill-bound, reusable materials into productive use. Sounds like a pretty good idea to me. I had fun exploring all the different sections: lumber, paint, tiles, and more. By the end, I had found an old door (see above) in which the panels had been replaced with mirrors. Once I clean it up and add a fresh coat of paint I think it will make a cool wall hanging!
